Lady Moura super-yacht a reference of nautical luxury…

The war in Ukraine and the sanctions imposed on Russian oligarchs in the European community caused the disappearance of Russian super-yachts from the port of Barcelona. They have been replaced by new, equally luxurious and extravagant boats owned by the reduced elite of multimillionaires.

Like for example the Lady Moura, owned by a Mexican businessman Ricardo Salinas Pliego.

It has the particularity of having been designed not as a summer residence but rather as the main residence of the former owner’s family who lived there several months a year, mainly in summer to sail between Cannes, Monaco and Palma de Majorca. One of the 7 decks was reserved exclusively for the owner who has never chartered this super-yacht.

Barcelona Port Marina Superyacht Lady Moura

The Lady Moura, when launched in 1990, was the 9th largest private yacht in the world. In 2021 it is only placed 48th in the world ranking of mega-yachts, which shows that the fortunes of the mega-rich are doing well.

Built by the German shipyard Blohm & Voss, the interior is the result of 4 years of work by Italian decorator Luigi Sturchio and would have cost more than 200 million dollars in 1990.

Its owner Nasser-Al-Rashid, a businessman from Saudi Arabia sold it for more than 125 million dollars in 2021 to a Mexican businessman, Ricardo Salinas Pliego. 105m long, it has 13 cabins for guests, and can accommodate a crew of 71 while sailing at more than 20 knots.

It has a heliport and a Sikorsky S76 helicopter (which costs around 13 million dollars), an indoor swimming pool with an open roof, a gymnasium, spa, sauna, a nightclub with a DJ booth, a theatre, a cinema, a bakery and a beach club…

The interior furniture, in a very classic style, was designed in Italy, in particular a dining table almost 25 meters long.

The beach club, a bathing platform that unfolds from the inside of the boat thanks to a hydraulic system, is now a common accessory for this type of boat, but at the time of its construction was an innovation. A very sophisticated hydraulic system controls doors, shutters, roofs, platforms and catwalks. The tenders, anchors, life rafts and navigation lights are hidden so as not to detract from the aesthetics of the vessel.

The crests and the name of the boat which appears on the sides are carved in solid gold.

In 2007 the Lady Moura ran aground in the Bay of Cannes not far from the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès de Cannes during the Festival, forcing it to be towed to a shipyard in Gibraltar.

The Lady Moura has hosted famous personalities like George H.W. Bush and his wife.
